FAQ's for Cruise Control Convenient Car Care

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you give repair quotes over the phone?
We understand wanting a price right away. However, vehicle problems can have multiple causes - even when symptoms seem obvious.
Quoting repairs without inspecting the vehicle often leads to incorrect repairs, unnecessary parts replacement, and higher overall cost. To avoid guesswork, we inspect the vehicle first and then provide a clear, written estimate based on verified findings.

What is the service visit or diagnostic fee?
There is a $140 minimum service fee to come out.
For more complex concerns - such as check engine lights, drivability issues, fuel system problems, or no-start conditions - diagnostic service typically starts at $175, depending on the testing required.
This fee covers the time, tools, and expertise needed to properly evaluate your vehicle.

When is the diagnostic fee applied toward repairs?
If the issue is immediately obvious and requires little to no diagnostic testing - such as:

  • A dead battery
  • Worn brake pads
  • A clearly failed component
-and you approve the repair, the service fee may be applied toward the repair.
If the issue requires diagnostic thinking, testing, or analysis, the diagnostic time is not waived, even if repairs are approved.

The parts store already told me what's wrong. Can you just replace that part?
Parts store code scans identify symptoms, not root causes.
Using a code alone to decide on repairs is similar to going to a doctor and asking for treatment based only on symptoms - without determining the actual cause.
We always verify the issue before replacing parts to prevent unnecessary repairs and repeat visits.

How much is an oil change?
Our full synthetic oil changes start at $135 plus tax, for vehicles requiring up to 6 quarts of oil.
Pricing may vary based on:

  • Vehicle type
  • Manufacturer oil specifications
  • Oil capacity over 6 quarts
  • Filter requirements
Every oil service includes:
  • Full synthetic oil meeting manufacturer specifications
  • Oil filter replacement
  • A digital inspection with photos
  • Maintenance recommendations based on what we actually see

Do you recommend maintenance based on mileage or condition?
Both.
Some maintenance is condition-based, while other services are best performed based on time and mileage, even if no symptoms are present.
Fluids such as coolant and transmission fluid degrade over time.
If you notice a performance change after a fluid service, it often means the service was overdue.
Our goal is preventive maintenance - not waiting until damage occurs.

How long will my service take?
Service time varies depending on:

  • The type of repair or maintenance needed
  • The amount of diagnostic testing required
  • Parts availability for your specific vehicle
We make every effort to complete most repairs the same day once the issue has been verified and parts are available. Parts availability is not always something we can control. If additional time is needed, we'll communicate that clearly after inspection.

Can you do alignments?
No. Wheel alignments require specialized equipment and cannot be performed as part of a mobile service.
If an alignment is needed before or after repairs, we'll explain why and help you plan next steps.

Do you install customer-supplied parts?
No.
We supply all parts used in repairs to ensure proper fitment, quality control, and warranty coverage. Installing customer-supplied parts often leads to compatibility issues and warranty complications.

Do you offer key programming or computer reprogramming services?
No. We do not perform key programming, immobilizer programming, or computer software reflashes.
These services require continuous power and secure, reliable internet connections to communicate with manufacturer systems, which isn't practical in a mobile environment.
If programming is required, we'll explain that after inspection and help point you in the right direction.

Are all repairs suitable for mobile service?
Many repairs are well suited for mobile service, but some are not.
Examples include:

  • Wheel alignments
  • Heater core replacement
  • Repairs requiring extensive interior disassembly
  • Certain complex electrical diagnostics that require extended testing time
If a repair isn't appropriate for mobile service, we'll explain why after inspection.

What types of vehicles do you work on?
We service most vehicles 2003 and newer. This allows us to properly support diagnostics, parts availability, and service quality.

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Most repairs are backed by a 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty on parts and labor, unless otherwise noted.

How do I get started?
The best way to get started is to schedule a service visit.
We'll inspect the vehicle, document what we find, and provide clear recommendations so you can make informed decisions - without pressure or guesswork.
